How to share Internet Ethernet network via WiFi with your Macbook laptop

Always arises the need to share our internet to a family member, friend or acquaintance, it will be each person yes we decided to shared it, but a good option would be sharing it from our Mac and not from the router via Wi-Fi.


First of all, we will emphasize that you do not need an extra program, all these facilities are offered by the same OS X system to share Mac Internet to some other device, with the simple function of sharing Internet in our secondary menu of the Panel Preferences.


Internet sharing via Wi-Fi Ethernet


Most devices are connected to the Internet via a wireless network, although cable connection is more stable, only used for computers, and that will be our requirement, that our MAC is connected to Internet via Ethernet and then send the signal of Wi-Fi Wireless way.


We should keep in mind that we can only share Wi-Fi Internet for Mac if we are connected from an Ethernet cable, so this requirement is very important and to be taken into account.

Now, in order to start sharing Mac Internet to other devices, in the Share connection option from: Choose Ethernet and the option of with other computers via: Choose the Wi-Fi connection.


In this way, it will show us a new button in the bottom right called Wi-Fi options that is going to be where we will configure the name of our network, the channel and the key, so we will give configure it.


We put the name of the network that we want, in the channel we recommend the 1 and in security you can choose between None, WEP of 40 bits and 128 bits, once configured we click OK to save our preferences.


Done this, we marked with a popcorn Internet sharing service on the left side of the window, and ask us if we are sure to activate the option to share your Internet connection, we just click on the Start button.


Clicking the Start button will create a network with the name that we assign ready to connect, in case it is with a password, we must introduce it when trying to establish a connection, so we can use our iPhone, or some other Device to connect to the Internet from our Mac.


Internet sharing via Ethernet Wi-Fi


The process is exactly the same, the difference is that we can share the Internet of MAC through our Wi-Fi, but in this case we will make it connected from a Wi-Fi network point and shared using an Ethernet cable.


Similarly, we go to System Preferences > share and once inside, on the left side select the Internet Share service to look at the options.


In this case, in the option of sharing connection from: We select Wi-Fi and in the option with other computers via: We select Ethernet, and in this way if we are connected via Wi-Fi with an Ethernet cable we can share our connection to Internet to another Mac like If we were a router.


Done this, in the left side menu we marked with a popcorn service share Internet, then we will show a prompt asking yes we are sure to activate the option to share your Internet connection, we click on the Start button and this way and We will be able to share internet from Mac via Ethernet.
